removes the excess fat
Brachioplasty, or arm lift, is a procedure that removes the excess fat and skin that can develop under the arms between the arm pit and the elbow. As we age and the muscles of the upper arm loose tone and excess fat develops under the arms, the soft tissue under the arms can begin to droop.
Some jokingly refer to this as bat wings, but many who have developed this condition become very self-conscious about the appearance of their arms and choose to have arm lift surgery to regain a more youthful appearance. If you have developed excess fat and your upper arms have become droopy, the arm lift procedure may be an option for you to consider. We strive to deliver the best brachioplasty The Villages has to offer. Schedule a free consultation and speak with Dr. Yi about brachioplasty. She’ll be happy to answer all your questions.

when reduction is achieved
This procedure is performed at our on-site state licensed ambulatory surgical center in The Villages. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and the patient must be in good over all health. Dr. Yi contours the underside of the arm by removing excess fat and tissue. When the desired amount of reduction is achieved, excess skin is trimmed and the incision is closed. Incisions may be in the armpit or axilla (mini arm lift), along the underside of the arm (full brachioplasty), or along the arm and the side of the chest (extended brachioplasty), depending on how much excess tissue is to be removed. Drains may be used. Patients are encouraged to wear compressive dressings after surgery to assist with swelling and contour. Final results may take 3-6 months to be visible.
enjoying new appearance.
Immediately after surgery, the patient is moved to a recovery room and the surgeon will approve the patient for release once they have fully recovered from the anesthesia. Patients will need to have made arrangements for someone to drive them home after surgery.
In the 1st week or so after surgery, bruising and swelling should be expected but will subside in the second week after surgery. A drainage tube may be used and will be removed after surgery in clinic when no longer needed. Dressings and compression garments will be used to help support the new contour of the arms for 3-6 weeks after surgery. At VIP in The Villages brachioplasty patients can typically return to limited activities after about 1 week. As soon as the fourth week after surgery, patients should be starting to see the final results of their surgery, be back to regular activities, and enjoying their new appearance. Please note, final results may sometimes take months to be seen. Dr. Yi and the team at VIP will guide you through every step of your recovery.
